Moderately Joyous

It struck me, belatedly, that I should send off 2021 in some way. I'm somewhat skeptical that 2022 is going to be dramatically different, better, etc., and I suppose that's somewhat pessimistic -- but honestly also optimistic -- especially if you know me.

That said, 2021 was the year I got to promote my first book AND write my second, so let's give this old turn 'round the sun' it's due.

  • I spoke at over 50 events

  • Got paid for speaking gigs for the first time

  • Received 2 awards for The Adventures of Women in Tech

  • Marked my 20th anniversary at Google

  • Sent my youngest child off to kindergarten & got a kitten (somewhat related)

  • And successfully touched my toes for the first time in years (after 2 years of yoga)

So yay for 2021? I think it doesn't feel entirely satisfying to me because of all the bad things I know did happen and all the good things that didn't throughout the world this year. But this is a reminder to me, and to you, to savor the good while we continue to make even better things happen. Bit by bit.
